“In the Fall of 2020, our family met with Mr. Michael N. Russo, Jr., to discuss a new neighbor who decided to lock us out of our property. Even though we’ve owned our 45 acres in Calvert County and used the road for many decades, the new neighbor of less than 30 days put up two gates to block the use of the shared roadway. Mr. Russo presented several options to address this situation and accepted us a client. We were advised at our very first meeting to document all interactions with this neighbor and to take pictures when we could. He and his team had to respond to many late night and weekend calls to speak with deputy sheriffs, state troopers, and others to resolve extremely contentious disputes. The team led by Michael Russo was very responsive and had a calming way to de-escalate a situation.
We had to take the neighbor to court and requested a jury trial. In July 2024, we had our time in court. The trial should have been filmed because it was masterful how Mr. Russo and Ms. Rebecca K. Schisler-Adams litigated our claims. They disproved every allegation made by the neighbor and proved all allegations made by my family. We won our case against the neighbor and also won a monetary settlement. Even the judge thanked them for the manner in which they litigated the case. This trial was projected to take 5 days but was completed in 3 days saving us quite a bit of money.
My family could not have found a team of lawyers with more experience in real estate/land use litigation. We feel that this team of attorneys really care about us and our well being.
